KENYA: KEC launches revamped Website

NAIROBI, May 20, 2011 (CISA)-His Eminence John Cardinal Njue officially launched the revamped Kenya Episcopal Conference (KEC) website on Wednesday May 18.

The colourful ceremony, held at St Thomas Aquinas Seminary, was preceded by a celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Cardinal Njue was the main celebrant.

All the bishops of Kenya attended with the exception of two who were out of the country on official matters. The bishops were concluding their Plenary Assembly.

Cardinal Njue thanked the Kenya Catholic Secretariat, which has been mandated by the KEC to coordinate and implement programmes and activities that express the mission of the Catholic Church in Kenya at the National Level.

Alongside the launch of the revamped website, Cardinal Njue launched the KEC Catholic Secretariat Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) 2011- 2012.

He congratulated the Chief Administrator, Bishop Philip Sulumeti, all the Bishops, the Secretary General, National Executive Secretaries of KEC Commissions and all Staff for their dedication and faithfulness to the mandate that the Secretariat has received from the Kenya Episcopal Conference.

"The revamped Website will continue to be a window through which even when far from the centre, we can follow the progress in our Secretariat. Let us browse it, interact, and add value to our programmes" he added.

Bishop Philip Sulumeti, the Chief Administrator at KEC Catholic secretariat informed those present that in the near future, KEC will officially change its name to become The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB).

Rev Fr Vincent Wambugu, Secretary General, Kenya Episcopal Conference briefly outlined the progress of the RRI. He called for support as the secretariat endeavours to become more and more efficient, affective and faithful in its mission, guided by the motto, "WITNESSING IN SERVICE".
